We are a complex matrix of the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual. Each part affects the others. God created us this way. But too often, churches either ignore the mental/emotional/physical aspects of our lives or they stigmatize those who struggle in these areas. As a result, many people in the church suffer silently. The one place where they should feel safe to share and to seek help, they do not.
But the gospel is clear – every one of us needs to be rescued, and we all need help. Jesus came to bring restoration to all parts of who we are, not just the spiritual. We see this clearly in the gospels as he heals people physically, restores them socially, comforts them emotionally and redeems them spiritually.
At NMCC, not only will we systematically work to build a culture where it is safe to seek help no matter the type of struggle an individual is facing, but we will also provide concrete tools and services for those seeking emotional, psychological and physical help.
